Strategic Plan

Building on past research experience and a record of accomplishments which gives the Unit international recognition, MITU's strategic plan (2016-2021) aims to strengthen and prioritise research activities to address major health problems affecting Tanzania and other countries in the African region. The Unit also aims to dedicate its resources in institutional capacity building activities, with the goal of developing African scientists capable of conducting randomised controlled trials (RCTs) to the highest international standards.

MITU’s overall strategic goals are to:

• Conduct research in focused areas of global public health significance.
• Strengthen research capacity in Tanzania and the East African region.
• Provide effective and efficient management systems supporting research and capacity-building activities.
• Mobilize resources and enhance the visibility of activities implemented by MITU.
