Godfrey Kisigo

Godfrey Kisigo is a Research Fellow at the Mwanza Intervention Trials Unit (MITU). He is also a Teaching Associate in Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, USA. Godfrey’s research interest is on the intersection between chronic diseases and infectious diseases, including the relationships between HIV and Hypertension care models. He is currently working closely with Dr Robert Peck and Dr Saidi Kapiga. Together, they seek to understand the impact of hypertension and cardiovascular disease on health outcomes among HIV infected and uninfected adults in Tanzania.



Godfrey is currently coordinating a randomised controlled clinical trial of a social worker intervention designed to reduce post-hospitalization mortality in HIV-infected adults in the Mwanza region, Tanzania. He is also helping to manage a cohort of 1,000 HIV-infected and uninfected adults which aims to determine the incidence and determinants of hypertension.
