Crispin Mukerebe

Crispin Mukerebe is a Senior Laboratory Scientist and a Laboratory Manager at the National Institute for Medical Research, Mwanza. He holds a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences degree from the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. As part of this training programme, Crispin is pursuing a Master of Science degree training in molecular biology at the University of Dar es Salaam. His master’s thesis project investigates the influence of host genetic factors on the persistence of high-risk human papillomavirus infection.

 

Onike Mcharo

Onike Mcharo

Onike Mcharo is a Research Assistant at the Mwanza Intervention Trials Unit. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in economics and sociology from the University of Dodoma. As part of this training programme, Onike is pursuing a Master of Public Health degree training at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences. Her research interests are on the health of adolescents and young people, focusing on sexuality and sexual reproductive health, menstrual health, integration of gender dimensions in HIV prevention programs, and behaviour change communication.

Fransiscko Fundi

Fransiscko Fundi is a registered nurse at Bugando Medical Centre and a Tutorial Assistant at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences. As part of this training programme, Franscisko is pursuing a Master of Epidemiology and Biostatistics degree at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences. His research interests are in maternal and child health and HIV key vulnerable populations.

Raphael Matinde

Raphael Matinde is a registered pharmacist and an Assistant Lecturer of medicinal chemistry at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences. He holds a Master of Science in Medicinal Chemistry degree from the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. As part of this programme, Raphael is conducting a study to assesses awareness, attitude, and practices towards post-exposure prophylaxis among bar tenders in Mwanza city.

Jacqueline Materu

Jacqueline Materu is a Biostatistician at the National Institute for Medical Research Mwanza Centre. She holds a Master of Science degree in biostatistics from Hasselt University and a Master of Science degree in public health from Bordeaux University. As part of this training programme, Jacqueline is pursuing her PhD training at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences. Her PhD project explores the application of advanced survival analysis and censored regression models in analyzing sexual behavior data among adolescents and young adults at risk of HIV in Tanzania.

Gloria Manyangu

Gloria Manyangu

Gloria Manyangu is the head of the Research and Consultancy Unit at the Bugando Medical Centre. She holds a degree in Medicine from the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences and a postgraduate training in preventive cardiology at the National University of Ireland, Galway. As part of this training programme, Gloria is pursuing her PhD training at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences. Her PhD project uses modifiable behaviors and biometric measures to compare cardiovascular health between people living with HIV and those without HIV from the same community.

Godfrey Kisigo 

Godfrey Kisigo is a Research Fellow at the Mwanza Intervention Trials Unit. He holds a degree in Medicine from the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences and a Master of Science degree in global health from Duke University. As a part of this training programme, Godfrey is pursuing his PhD training at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. His PhD project is focused on understanding the impact of sleep disorders and cardiovascular disease on health outcomes in Tanzania.

Sophia Kagoye

Sophia Kagoye is a Research Scientist at the National Institute for Medical Research Mwanza center. She holds a degree in Medicine and a Master of Science degree in epidemiology and applied biostatistics from the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College. As part of this training programme, Dr. Kagoye is pursuing a PhD training at the Catholic University Health and Allied Sciences. Her PhD project is focused on the trends, patterns and determinants of mortality among older children and adolescents in the Kisesa Health and Demographic Surveillance site.
